PHOTOGRAPHY

For this project I have 3 different photos all revolving around one theme which is hockey. In the top photo my sister took a picture of me pretending to shoot a puck, I then photoshoped the background into a hockey rink in the mountains.

Self Portrait Project

In the middle picture I am posing with my old hockey jersey, gloves, and my hockey stick. I faded out some of my body to fit in with the darker background which I also photoshoped in.

In the bottom photo I found a picture of a beach, and the Stanley Cup on a blacket so I pretended I was on the beach when my sister took the photo of me

5 Facts About the History of Photography

1. The first successful picture was developed in 1827 by Niépce

2. The first successful photo took 8 hours to expose

3. With the first successful process available it took 10 to 20 minutes to properly expose to available light

4. Combining new chemical processes and using lenses with wider apertures, the exposure time was reduced to more acceptable times, of 10 to 30 seconds.

5. Colours were applied with a fine brush and then fixed by simply breathing on the plate.

Pinhole Camera Project

In this project we took a small box and painted it completely black, then we poked a small hole on the top and covered it with a piece of tape. According to the size of your box, your exposer time changed (mine was about 12 seconds). We went outside and took pictures of stuff and we got to develop them in the dark room.

Facts Learned During the Still Image Unit

-The aperture is an opening that changes in size to admit more or less light

-A shutter is the device that opens and closes at varying speeds to determine the amount of time the light entering the aperture is allowed to reach the film or sensor

-The depth of field is the area or 'zone' of a photograph, from front to back, which is in focus

-The general rule on the shutter speed that will allow a hand held image with a given lens is that The length of the camera should be the same as the shutter speed

-You shouldn't let too much light get into your camera when we were doing the Pinhole Project
